Encode a lab result

Enter results against an order, or an outside result typed in, then release them to the chart.

Useful for Med tech Rad tech Encoder Clinic admin

  1. Open Lab Orders in the side bar and choose Encode on the order. To type in an outside result with no file, use Encode result on the patient's Results & Images tab.
  2. The form follows the Template for that test group, so the fields match the panel. Set the exam date.
  3. Enter the values (conventional or SI). Anything outside the reference range is flagged as you type.
  4. Save; add a Revision note when you correct a saved result (the Revision trail keeps every version). Once it is validated and released, it reaches the chart and, where the clinic allows, the patient.
