Install the app and turn on notifications
DokEMR is a PWA: add it to your phone or computer like an app, and get alerts when something needs you.
- DokEMR is a PWA (progressive web app): the same website you already use, installed on your device so it opens like an app, with its own icon and no browser bar. It is not a separate program or an app-store download, so it is always the latest version, and you sign in with the same account and see the same data. Installing also lets it send you push notifications on your phone or computer, even when DokEMR is not open.
- When the Install DokEMR offer appears at the top of the screen, choose Install. On an iPhone, choose How to install: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- Open the installed app from your home screen or desktop. It runs full screen with its own icon. On a phone, open the menu with the button at the top right and swipe left to close it; swiping in from the left edge goes back to the page before, as in other apps.
- To get alerts, open My account › Preferences and find the Notifications panel. Choose Turn on notifications and allow them when your browser asks.
- Use Send a test notification to check it reaches this device, and tick under Tell me about what you want to hear about. My devices lists where they are on.
Common questions
Is this an app from the Play Store or App Store?
No. It is a PWA: you install it straight from your browser, with nothing to download from a store. Removing it works like removing any app and leaves your clinic data untouched.
Do I need to update it?
No. It opens the live DokEMR site, so it is always current. To read the page again (or pick up a new version), pull the page down from the top: on an iPhone's installed app that refreshes it, and it asks first if you have something unsaved.
Does it work without internet?
No. It needs an internet connection to load your clinic data, just like the website.
I get no notifications on my iPhone.
An iPhone only allows them for an installed app. Add DokEMR to your Home Screen first, then turn notifications on.
Notifications are blocked.
The browser was told not to allow them. My account › Preferences shows the steps for your device. Turn them back on in the browser's or phone's settings for DokEMR, then choose Check again.
